Caitlin is a wonderful, caring, compassionate, and hard-working nurse on our neonatal intensive care floor. I have watched countless times as she has stepped up to help other nurses on our floor during chaotic and busy days full of admissions and surgeries. I have also witnessed her holding hands and praying with the families of these sweet babies while they wait for a test result to come back or after a long and stressful day filled with many alarms.
She makes it a point to explain all of our medical jargon to families in a way they can understand it. One specific situation that came to mind was an admission I had received during the middle of a very busy day (of course on lunch hour). There were many labs ordered and a lot of concerns with this preterm baby, and Caitlin came to help me admit without being asked. She was able to get all of my IV's and blood cultures, as I wasn't certified yet. She went out of her way to make sure the parents felt comfortable and were informed of everything going on with their baby.
She always puts the patient's needs first. The staff and the families always know they are in good hands when Caitlin is around to care for our babies!
