Candace was caring for a 60-year-old female who was admitted with a stroke. The patient is the primary care giver for her 31-year-old disabled son. Her son had nowhere to go or no one else to care for him. The son is also epileptic and did not have his medications with him. With the ANM's help, Candace was able to secure two medication prescriptions for the son of his needed medications. When they went to fill the prescriptions, Medicaid would not cover the cost of the prescriptions because they had recently been filled. Candace purchased the medications out of her own pocket. While in the pharmacy, the patient's son wanted to buy his mom a get well card and balloon. Candace helped him pick it out and purchased those items as well. She helped him fill it out and present it to his mom. The patient was so appreciative that Candace not only provided her with such good care but that she also looked out for her son too.
