I would like to nominate my co-worker, Candice Englebert, RN, as a deserving recipient for the DAISY award.

Every day I work with Candice. She shows such compassion to all her patients. She has a large heart and a wonderful personality. There are multiple times that she has gone above and beyond to ensure patient satisfaction, healing and happiness.

Recently, we had a patient who was going to miss his daughter’s graduation from high school. The patient was very upset and sad he could not attend. Candice contacted the high school and the location the ceremony was to be held at to see if it could be streamed to the hospital’s TV for him to watch.

Another time, she found that one of her patient’s was diagnosed with cancer; she took her own money and bought the patient a card, teddy bear and flowers.

She is an amazing person and each patient she cares for has nothing but wonderful things to say and smiles on their faces.

I am going to school to be a nurse and she is such an inspiration to me. I hope to only be so lucky to be a nurse like Candice. She deserves this reward, but she also deserves knowing what her co-workers think about her. Her compassion and caring not only show with patients, but I have also seen Candice help multiple nurses whenever she has a free moment. She helps the aides without complaining, and she just brings a “special something” to our floor! She is an amazing nurse and person who deserves this reward and more.
