Carole is a wonderful nurse to work with, she is very understanding of the values and appreciates the function of any role every CNA plays when delivering patient care. As a CNA I have seen/heard/witnessed a nurse delegate a task to a CNA simply because it was inconvenient for them. In working with Carole she is one nurse who is always there when a coworker might need her, she is not afraid to get her hands dirty. In working with Carole she makes sure her patients are the way she would want to be if she were that patient. She is there if you ever need her. She will always call me over my vocera to check on me when she might not of seen me passing by just to say how are you doing and do you need help? I know she has a lot of charting and making sure her job gets done but she always makes sure her patients and (coworkers) come first and she always says "I'm always her for you".

I know she has her set of patients that she is assigned however she always steps in and helps everyone out as we are a team. An example of her always being there is one night while I was caring for my patient I noticed a change so I first called over my vocera to her to come to a room to look over my patient that was having some trouble. Without any questions she came right away and stepped right in then told me good job for noticing the change in the patient and did not leave room until the patient had the care they needed as she would want if she were that patient. As she is waiting for a nurse to call the doctor and to get the patient more help she was educating the patient of what was going to happen to help him.

I feel Carole deserves the DAISY Award because nurses are important educators in the community and she was educating the patient the moment she walked into the patient's room, involving the patient and others in the education process. Then while she was talking to the patient she lifted his spirits as well as trying to help with the pain the best she could until more help arrived. Carol is a valuable asset to not only Genesis but the nursing field.
