Charley was taking care of a post-operative patient who had been in a devastating car accident that morning, which lead him to an emergent craniotomy. Due to the severity of this patient's condition his identity was unknown. Upon receiving this patient from the operating room, Charley feverishly worked to stabilize the situation and provide the best care imaginable to this man. It was more than admirable to watch her stop at nothing to make sure every aspect of his needs were met, no questions asked. I observed for several minutes as she took charge of the situation, making sure that each discipline was involved in his care (from surgical to nursing). After the patient was cared for she took to relentlessly searching for his family. Knowing the situation was grim she pulled every clue from his wallet and contacted each possible working number. She showed incredible compassion, like none I have ever seen before. She continued until she found a local community grocery store on a business card in his belongings. The owner of the store immediately took the address of the next of kin and personally drove to the residence to check for family, even though he didn't know him personally. It was as though I were watching divine intervention happen before my eyes. It was because of Charley's strong will to not give up, intuitiveness to find information, and love and respect for people that this man's family found their loved one and was provided priceless time with him that otherwise would have been lost. She has shown just how big her heart is, Thank you, Charley.
