She realized how sick my patient was and literally dropped everything and took us to the trauma room where she accessed the patient's port for us.
I took a patient into the ER with prolonged nausea and vomiting with hypotension and just overall a very sick lady. The ER was full. There were multiple critical patients and there was going to be a long wait even though this patient was very sick and needed quick attention. This patient had no vascular access but did have a venous port in place. However, it was an invasive type of port that EMS does not have the equipment, training, or protocol to access. I want to commend CJ because even though she was the charge nurse and was literally being pulled in 20 different directions at once, she realized how sick my patient was and literally dropped everything and took us to the trauma room where she accessed the patient's port for us. She then helped get fluids started and we got with the physician to get some meds ordered and administered to my patient while she was still on my stretcher and got the process of treating this patient started before she even had a room. I feel like she went above and beyond because she knew that is what my patient needed. I just wanted to take a minute to recognize CJ as she puts others first, does what is best for the patient, and has a great team attitude.
