This is our 3rd admission in the last year, so we have seen some really great nurses and some who are just okay. Cullen's 3rd floor has been better than I had hoped, but largely due to the consistent staff, particularly Chelsea, who cared for my dad the first three nights he was here. My dad is in the end stages of his life, but Chelsea showed tremendous care and compassion and treated my dad as she would treat her own! Even though she looked young, she was incredibly capable and experienced! She showed great insight, judgment, and compassion to my dad to minimize his pain and discomfort since he always put on a stoic front. She took the initiative to improve his comfort on several occasions, such as adding moisture to his O2 flow, getting suction for mucus, fixing IV lines, and minimizing unnecessary blood draws. All the great care Chelsea provided gave me peace of mind every night I left my dad.
Chelsea also provided compassion to me as the family, which is of immeasurable value and beyond the job. Chelsea is a hidden gem whose quiet, unassuming demeanor does not show her great nursing skills, professionalism, clinical excellence, and amazing personality! Even the techs/sitters/CNAs recognized Chelsea’s excellence and shared their respect for her as did her colleagues. I owe a great debt of gratitude for the tremendous compassion and care Chelsea provided to my dying 90-year-old dad! Thank you, Chelsea!
