After the surgical team left, Chelsea comforted me, calmed me down, and spoke to me.
On the night before my surgery, I went through something that I personally consider the worst night since being at the hospital. The surgery team came in and decided to drain an abscess/pus from my abdomen. At that moment, I began to panic and got anxious. Chelsea was about to leave the room, but when she saw what they were about to do, she came back in.
While I was crying and screaming, she was by my side the entire time. She held my hands (not in an attempt to restrain me but to comfort me). She spoke to me during the entire process, saying positive words- imagine I am on a beach. After the surgical team left, she comforted me, calmed me down, and spoke to me. She checked up on me every so often that night because I could not sleep.
In addition, even when my body has spasms after the night, she called the doctor to examine me. She did not have to stay with me when the surgeons came, but she did and for that, I am grateful. Every time she was my nurse, she spoke positivity, kind and encouraging words. Even when I was not her patient on her workday, she would stop by my room to say hello quickly. I will remember Chelsea for her compassion because how she made me feel is something that I will take with me forever.
