My daughter, L, was admitted to the hospital after surgery on her salivary glands and having her tonsils removed. L has chronic health issues and has been taking daily meds since she was 4 months old. After the surgery, she was in so much pain that she refused to swallow anything, so getting her to swallow pain meds were impossible. That first night was a long one, but Chelsea was right there with us in the thick of it. Chelsea was amazing in dealing with L. She was kind, caring and compassionate. She shared her experience of having her tonsils out at 6 years old at Le Bonheur and truly sympathized with her pain. At 2 am Chelsea was searching the floor trying to find books and activities to help distract L's pain since she couldn't sleep. Although it felt like she was only swallowing drip by drip, Chelsea was by her side taking all the time my daughter needed to cheer her on and encourage her to swallow her meds! Chelsea is so upbeat and was just the nurse we needed that night. Thank you, Chelsea, for your kindness and dedication to these children! I'm sure we are not the only ones that have experienced this amazing nurse!
