Cheryl and I have worked together for nearly 20 years. She goes above and beyond for her patients and coworkers every day. She treats patients as if they are the only ones she is caring for that day and speaks in terms they can understand. She makes sure that they can take advantage of all the Health System has to offer.
She has worked late and through lunch on many occasions. She has been an advocate, counselor, pharmacy tech, and office mother for many folks for lots of years and does it because that is just who she is.
When a patient's battle ends, it's this nurse who goes to funerals, bakes food for the families, sends cards, and calls to check on family members afterward. Her kindness and compassion know no bounds.
My husband was terminally ill and Cheryl along with Dr. D took care of him. Not only did they take care of him, but they also took care of me along the way.
Very often patients send cards of thanks to this nurse. The days she is not working, our patients miss her being at the other end of the phone when they call.
She is now with Dr. W and that has been such a Godsend to a new Dr. to have a nurse who knows her stuff.
It's difficult to be recognized when we are so far from the main campus, but Cheryl is a true DAISY Nurse.
