Over the past 58 years, I have been a patient at Memorial Hospital numerous times. I have been cared for by some of the most caring and kind doctors, nurses, and staff in all departments. I recently spent several days at Memorial East Shiloh. I was admitted with breathing problems, lungs that had to be drained for the second time in a month, and facing cancer treatment. Uncertain of what is next. Cheryl came to the rescue. She is the kind of nurse that every patient would love to have. She is a kind, compassionate, gentle, and loving nurse who took caring for people to another level.

Cheryl was there holding my hand when I couldn’t control the shaking and unknown. She answered questions I had about treatments and doctors. She made uncomfortable situations bearable. Her smile will light the room. All of this she does with ease, a regular part of her job, ready to go the extra mile.

Kindness, compassion, hope, and love are contagious, and Cheryl is a carrier. I was blessed to have her as my nurse. Although I only had her for a short time, I want her to know how grateful I am for her.
