I never expected to be told at less than 32 weeks pregnant that I was in need of a hospital transfer and likely an emergent c-section within 48 hours. To say I felt distraught and grasping at the absolute unknown was an understatement. But then morning shift arrived and I was blessed with Chimere as the Nurse to prep me for transfer. Chimere went above and beyond in giving me words of encouragement and hope. She listened and stayed by my side as I expressed my fears of the unknown, instilling in me words of hope and positive outcomes based on her years of experience. While my time on the L&D unit may have been short, her impact and compassionate nature were incredibly mighty. Before the ambulance arrived she offered me a hug, one that I clung to as my tears soaked her scrub top. Chimere’s calm demeanor, patience, and extraordinarily high level of compassionate care will never be forgotten and will forever be a part of my family's birth story for our baby girl. Chimere is the embodiment of a DAISY Nurse and made a huge impact on our hospital stay.
