I am a nurse at MUSC, but today I was on the other side of the fence. My husband, a Charleston County Deputy, was involved in an accident and was transported to MUSC. I arrived at MUSC terrified. Chrissy, literally took me by the hand, very calmly updated me on my husband's status, reassured me and walked me back to see him. She also found a quiet room for my two young children to wait in, and had child life visit and bring some fun stuff to keep them occupied. I believe that as nurses, we are often given opportunities to change the lives of our patients and their families. Chrissy wasn't even the nurse assigned to my husband, but since she is also the wife of a law enforcement officer, she recognized an opportunity to make a difference and she did just that! She knew my fears and worries and had a way of putting my mind at ease. While I can't say enough about the excellent care that my husband received today, I want to recognize Chrissy for going above and beyond. I honestly don't even know what she said to me. I just know that she made sure that I knew my husband and children were all being taken care of, and she was there for me if I needed anything. As a wife, mother, and a nurse, that was all I needed to know. Chrissy is an incredibly compassionate nurse and a wonderful example of MUSC excellence!
