Christie Maynard is a great resource. She keeps a level head in times of crisis and takes control of situations, ensuring everyone who needs direction gets it and follows up with feedback after the crisis. Christie is truly concerned for the safety of our patients and our staff.
Recently, a fire broke out in Oncology. After the Code Red was called and the fire extinguished, Christie took the lead in orchestrating all the moving parts to keep our patients and staff safe. She had the transfer center find appropriate beds for all the patients and made sure the rooms were closed and blocked with sheets. She led a search for a patient who was not in her room when the fire broke out, communicated with administration, the fire marshal, and the police department, all while maintaining an air of calm and control.
Christie oversaw the transport of patients to new rooms, made sure the transferred locations were communicated with the manager for follow-up, reached out and had staff from other areas come help facilitate the moves and communication with the outside contractors for smoke mitigation and cleaning of the unit. When all was said and done, Christie checked in on the relocated staff and praised them for a great job. She sought out management and called leaders to make sure the team members who were key to the success of this event were praised publicly, while rarely being publicly acknowledged for her own tireless work.
