I met Christina Ross on Wednesday evening at approximately 8pm. Prior to meeting Christina, I had been sitting in the waiting room for 11 hours. My mother was scheduled for major surgery that Wednesday. My mother is quite elderly and wanted me to stay with her in ICU when her back surgery was complete. Of course, I was going to stay with her no matter what, but after finding out that the only chair in her ICU room would be a basic, straight back chair without any arms even, I don't mind saying I was sick with that knowledge. Christina allowed me to come to the room my mother would be going to the next day after ICU. After crying like a baby and thanking her profusely I headed to the room. Literally from minute one, Christina was a complete blessing. She welcomed me just like I was a favored patient. She made sure a cot was moved into my mother's room and I had all the linens I needed. Twice during the night, she walked me over to the ICU to see my mother. When my mother made it to the 2nd floor I was thrilled to see Christina again. Christina's caring and compassion know no boundaries. She took the time to explain procedures. During the night my mother started "sundowning". I lost my cool and just got hysterical due to physical and mental exhaustion and the thought that my mother could fall and destroy the work of the doctors. Christina completely took control and calmed me down. What an amazing asset this hospital has in the form of Christina Ross. You can not teach the kind of compassion she has. She is truly a jewel.
