I had the honor and pleasure of having Chris assigned to my case. When I initially was informed that a nurse would be coming to my home, you could not imagine my amazement when I opened my door to let my nurse in and it was a male nurse at my door.
During the past two years, the relationship between my nurse, Chris, and myself has developed into more than a nurse/patient relationship. I consider Chris to be a major part of my support system. I honestly believe that if it were not for Chris and the care that he has provided me, I feel that my health would not have improved.
He was very patient in explaining the process with regards to my infusion. Never appearing frustrated with all of my questions that he answered for me. Chris makes me want to be a better person. I don't know if this is professional or not, however, I consider Chris to not just be my personal nurse but my friend. I never expected to develop a relationship with my nurse where he's opened my mind in many areas and changed my views on many issues. I am 58 years old, set in my ways, trust issues, not a lot of friends, and because of Chris taking the time to listen to a lonely old man and sharing with me, I feel that I am now a better person, more open-minded and healthier.
Chris makes me want to help others the same way he unconditionally helped me. I want to be the type of man that he is. He could have just come to my home, given me my infusion, and did some work on his computer, but he knew I needed more and selflessly provided me with way more than I am sure he gets paid to do.
I have had other opportunities from other agencies to provide my infusions to me, however, because of the personal care and attention given to me by Chris, I declined. He has changed my views on male nurses.
Thank you, Chris, for the unconditional kindness that you have provided me over the past two years. I am forever grateful for our patient/friend relationship. No one deserves this honor more than you, in my opinion. My nurse and friend, Chris, is a true DAISY Nurse.
