Cindy had just become our primary and yet she treated both my girls as if they were just as important to her as they were to me.
Cindy became a primary for one of my twins a few weeks into our NICU journey. When no one asked to be I’s primary, I realized that I could choose. There are many wonderful nurses there, but we chose Cindy and we would choose her again and again. I loved the way she would talk to my baby when changing, doing vitals, booking up her feeds. It was like they had been friends for a long time. My baby never really fussed with her either. Cindy has a very calm and collected approach to working with my baby and me. There is nothing I appreciate more than sincerity coupled with knowledge and care. She didn’t have to, but she got both my girls matching outfits for their one-month milestone. She had just become our primary and yet she treated both my girls as if they were just as important to her as they were to me. Cindy also knew how to work with me. I can be a little high-strung and emotional at times. Cindy knew how to talk me down from those moments. For example, we were considering driving during a snowstorm to see them. She said, “The girls need parents to come home to. I’ll give them some extra snuggles today.” I knew my girls were in great hands. Cindy has made our NICU experience a positive one to remember. Her sense of humor, years of knowledge, and calming demeanor have helped us through this process. While I know she has other babies in her care, she made us feel like we were the only ones.
