Cindy Stilley's twelve-hour shift as Charge Nurse on a Surgical Intermediate Unit was busy from start to finish. Cindy's expertise in that role enabled her to move from pod to pod, assisting in caring for the multiple trauma, OR, and ED admissions and providing assistance to the nurses and care partners.
As the night progressed, Cindy got a call from a valued team member. This team member had been newly diagnosed with a neurological disorder, and she was now experiencing changes in her vision. This was a sudden change, and the impact was so significant she could not drive herself to the doctor's office. This coworker is exceptional and always does for others, and now she needed help. After Cindy had worked tirelessly on an extremely busy night, she left work to go to this employee's house to drive her to the doctor and leave management. Cindy is a natural leader with a huge heart for our patients and team. Very few people know what she did because it is just who she is as a person. For her devotion to our patients and our team, Cindy is deserving of the DAISY Award.
