Cyrene is an amazing triage nurse; dedicated at superior customer care. She takes great pride in what she does and continually goes above and beyond for our patients. She refuses to leave work until all patients that have called asking for advice have been called and every refill has been refilled. Cyrene is also a treasured resource to the front desk staff. She voices up and provides valuable input when the front desk staff has questions (and we have a lot!) and is always willing to take patient calls when parents just want a quick answer. That sounds simple enough and just a part of a regular day for a nurse, but I assure you the assistance she provides the front desk is far from the standard. She manages to come into work with a smile and an upbeat attitude that would put even the most positive person to shame.
Recently we had a patient get pretty sick and require a stay in the children's castle. Cyrene built a relationship, like she always does, with the child's parents, and took the time to sit with the child's Mom during each of her personal breaks. The Mom was so grateful as she was overwhelmed to say the least. The patient's twin sister still demanded attention as toddlers tend to do and her child in the hospital wasn't doing well and the worry she had for her was unbearable. Just having Cyrene come and be there was a huge comfort to this Mom. Now, when the kids have appointments they pop into Cyrene's office to catch up and for the little ones to get their treat from "Auntie" Cyrene.
For a triage nurse, with no physical patient contact, to consistently build these relationships with our patient's parents says a lot about her compassionate, giving character. That is just one example of how Cyrene has touched our patients and their parent's lives as well as her coworkers lives. She is always so modest when I remind her how phenomenal she is, but she makes a HUGE positive impact on so many people's lives. She is a prime example of what Sanford as an enterprise strives for; the extraordinary personal experience.
