Diana consistently gives compassionate quality care to all her patients and she is an outstanding team member. We had a very busy day on our unit with extremely high acuity with many complex patients. That afternoon we had an RRT on one of our patients. Diana was one of the first nurses to respond even though it was not her patient, she was not only focused on helping in this emergency, but she also knew the patient and recognized that he was scared. She was very compassionate and comforted the patient during this difficult time. After, while the patient was waiting to be transferred to ICU, she jumped in and passed out medications for other nurses, assisted other nurses with translating Spanish, did another nurses admission, helped another nurse with a very difficult discharge while transport was waiting for all this while taking care of her own six patients. Her team described her as a "Rock Star"! and even though the entire 7East team is outstanding she really goes the extra mile to ensure that not only her patients but the other patients on the unit are well taken care of. She exemplifies our BayCare Values and is the model of what teamwork is about.
These have been some very difficult times with the COVID pandemic and all the uncertainty and challenges that have come with it. She always comes to work with a smile, has never complained about floating to the COVID unit, and is always there when you need a helping hand, she never waits to be asked, she simply does whatever needs to be done, not for recognition or reward, but for pure compassion for her patients and her team. She is a true DAISY Nurse and she fits the description perfectly.
