The ANA defines nursing as “the protection, promotion and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities and populations.” Diane Scheimann, BSN, RN, CCRN of CICU consistently exemplifies what is most unique about our profession. Diane is always flexible, respectful and reciprocal in her approach to patient care. Her patients describe her as “compassionate and knowledgeable”. Diane serves as a mentor/preceptor and inspires excellence in nursing among her peers, who describe her as “approachable, trustworthy and knowledgeable”. Diane is a Certified Critical Care RN and also a Diabetic Resource Nurse. Diane is currently taking classes to become a Geriatric Resource Nurse as well.
