Dionne also realized that I was more comfortable speaking in Spanish and switched over, which was a great relief.
I am a 50-year-old male and have never had any health issues in the past. This is my first time being in a hospital and I was extremely anxious because I did not know what to expect. Dionne was extremely knowledgeable, caring, and patient with me. She asked me questions about myself, she put me at ease. She had a very light sense of humor that made me feel very, very comfortable. She took the time to explain everything to me because she could tell that I was nervous about what was going on.
At one point I was in extreme pain, and I was embarrassed about it because I felt I was exaggerating but I couldn’t help myself. She did not make me feel like I was a big cry baby or like my pain was unwarranted. She explained that different people have different pain tolerances, that the procedure I had done was painful, and that that’s nothing to be ashamed of. She took the time to help me calm down, work on breathing, and was talking to both myself and my wife letting us know what she thought was going on and what would help get me through the pain. She also realized that I was more comfortable speaking in Spanish and switched over, which was a great relief. That was definitely a bonus for me. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for making something that was surely a pain-filled awful experience for me as enjoyable and comfortable as it could possibly be. I am very thankful for her care during a very difficult, traumatizing situation for me.
