While I was in the ICU before I came to the third floor, Dustin was one of my nurses. He was one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. I asked him why he works the ICU, he said, "It's where people tend to need the most help." He took care of me consistently, never taking more than a few seconds to get to my bedside when I needed something. I did not think I would be comfortable with a male nurse, as vulnerable as I was, but Dustin was never anything less than professional and respectful. He was the first person in this hospital to show me just how absolutely kind, compassionate, and incredible nurses can be. Dustin is, to me, a nurse, a caregiver, a kind soul, and an every-day hero. He has left a permanent impression on me of my stay at Memorial Hermann.
