My niece was to be married and it was extremely important to have her grandmother at the ceremony, as she is the only grandparent left. Unfortunately, being hospitalized with a right-sided hemiparesis, attendance and travel to a ceremony was not a possibility. Liz Roney came up with the idea if my mother could not attend the ceremony, perhaps the ceremony could be held at the hospital. Liz stated that she would check on this for us. My mother's room overlooked the water fountain and the botanical gardens which would make a very impressive ceremony site.
Liz's coordinating efforts resulted in the approval of the wedding. But Liz did not stop there. She came in on her day off dressed for the wedding; helped get my mom cleaned up and dressed, provided a shampoo and styled my Mom's hair and took her from the room to the ceremony site and then back again. She also thoughtfully made up a grandmother's bouquet from the flowers in the room to give to my niece (the bride). Using white gauze, she made an awesome bridal arrangement. She also brought in an umbrella and held it over my mom's head so she would be shaded during the ceremony.
The fact that my mother was in the hospital during an important event of her granddaughter's wedding was a big letdown. With Liz's caring, she endeavored to take the "dark clouds" away and made this a very special day. Our entire family would like to say just plain and simple, "thanks Liz for your caring."
