Emily was working with a patient who needed to be admitted to the hospital. The hospital was at capacity and the patient was to be boarding. Sometimes boarding patients are moved to our observation area where it is more comfortable and quiet but on this day there was no space. Emily got an inpatient hospital bed for the patient to improve their comfort. When the bed arrived, Emily helped the family to dress the bed with sheets, pillows, and bedding from home. Emily took time during her busy ED shift to do this for her patient because she cared about their comfort and ability to get much-needed rest. Emily willingly and gladly found the time to perform this caring and understanding act for her patient and their family.
