Erika had a patient whom she took care of for 4 straight days. She mentioned to her patient that her name sounds like a certain type of Thai food. Today the patient was very depressed when she thought about the fact that she only had a few days left to live, and tearfully told the PCA, "I want that Thai food!" After getting the "ok" from the doctor, the PCA contacted Erika, who on her day off, went out to buy and then brought in Thai food for the patient to have. She met with the family and comforted them with hugs and encouraging words. She spent time with the patient, feeding her and visiting with her on her day off. This was an amazing act of kindness and selflessness on her part in caring for a patient at the end of her life.
