I chose to nominate Eva Verdoni for a DAISY Award as a colleague. Not only is she a fantastic leader, but her bedside care and compassion for her patients also go above and beyond. She acts as a team player, a resource of knowledge to support the unit, and is consistently demonstrating excellent patient care. Although she wears two hats while working in a charge nurse role, she also manages a full patient assignment and does it with grace.

Tonight, I witnessed her patient express fear on multiple occasions, she spoke to him with compassion and reassured him on multiple occasions; even though she was busy and needed to complete her charting, she pulled up her computer and sat inside the patient’s room next to him while he watched television to provide additional reassurance and company. I feel she went above and beyond and showed great empathy and compassion. Eva is a fantastic nurse and the glue that holds this unit together.
