Faith is a DAISY Nurse because of her patient advocacy and self-motivation to improve her nursing skills.
Faith Osterburg recently achieved her one-year anniversary of being a new nurse in the MRI department. Faith began her career in MRI as a new graduate nurse. She immediately exemplified the IU Health values in her daily practice. I'm nominating Faith for a DAISY Award due to her recent contributions to the emergency management of two MRI patients. The first patient required re-intubation following their MRI scan and admission to the Pediatric ICU.

Yesterday a patient was transported to MRI again from the Pediatric ICU. During the induction, the patient experienced airway obstruction and a large volume of bloody emesis. Faith, along with anesthesia, immediately took action to push medications and place an endotracheal tube. Thankfully, the patient did not cardiac arrest due to their efforts in correcting her respiratory failure! The other MRI nursing personnel functioned as runners and called the ICU for physician support. The patient was stabilized and transported safely to the ICU, and the scan was rescheduled for a later time.

Faith is a DAISY Nurse because of her patient advocacy and self-motivation to improve her nursing skills. She requested that a debrief session be coordinated to discuss with the care team what went well and what could have gone better. I'm proud to lead Faith and provide her with support and resources needed to cope with the many situations nursing encounters on a daily basis.
