Fallon has been a student nurse in the ED over the last 2 weeks of their preceptorship from UNMC. She willingly seeks out learning opportunities and is eager to help anywhere needed. Fallon does a great job with patients and willingly spends time with them to help reduce anxiety and explain the ED process. This is paramount to the ED patient experience as it can be a scary environment that is often alleviated by simple explanations provided by staff. Most students fail to identify this need and must be prompted by the preceptor. However, on one of her days, she easily recognized this need in the patient and family and began educating the family and patient. She is eager to learn and actively participated in the ED skills fair to learn more about the processes in our department in relation to pediatrics and trauma safety.
