I recently had my second baby at WBH. My first delivery was a traumatic experience and took years to cope with to be able to emotionally handle getting pregnant again. My first delivery I had Gabby who stayed with me during and after my emergency c section and supported me when my son went to the NICU at delivery as he was very premature and my husband went with him. She sat with me as I called everyone in my family and went with me to visit my son in the NICU for the very first time.

This time around, I had a NORMAL pregnancy (a very different experience than the first.) I was lucky enough to come in when Gabby was working again. She took spectacular care of me even though her role was as a charge nurse that night and not a staff nurse working the floor. She came back in the next afternoon on her night off just to be there for me again when I was going to deliver my second baby. She supported me through so much discomfort and emotional pain when I didn't feel like I could do it anymore. Gabby was an incredible birth coach and friend. She guided me through pushing when my baby's heart rate was very high and kept me calm knowing that I knew exactly what was happening and what the outcome could be if I didn't push well. Seeing the tears run down her face as she was able to help me achieve the seemingly impossible VBAC I dreamt of for months will forever be engraved in my memory. Watching her joy and knowing she was so invested in my success and my baby's health was the care you'd get from a friend.

Twice now Gabby was the light and such an integral part of both of my sons' entrances into the world. Nursing care like that is not something that can be taught. The gift of herself in helping me heal from the trauma of my first delivery is something I never could repay Gabby for. Thank you for going above and beyond and helping to guide our newest baby earth-side. You will always have a special place in our family's hearts.
