Gail goes above and beyond for "her" ostomy patients from the time she meets them for markings, through their stay as a new ostomy patient and Gail continues her care postoperatively if the patients join her ostomy group. She connects with the families to include them in the coordination and continuation of a new life with an ostomy. She offers encouragement and shares her vast knowledge with all.
Gail gives her time freely to all she serves. This is what I consider a true role model for the nursing profession. The time she gives with her ostomy group discussions allows for continued collaboration of healthcare teams as well as product manufacturers to offer education on up-to-date use of the newest products on the market.
Gail has a loyal following from her ostomy patients who she continues to offer love, support, knowledge, and her time, which only adds to the patients' experience in a positive way during difficult life-changing experiences. There are not enough words to express the compassion that Gail offers a multitude of patients and families in an ongoing continuum of care that knows no bounds. I too am a nurse and my parents are some of Gail's ostomy patients and family.
