Giovanna goes above and beyond in every situation. She is the first nurse to help her co-workers regardless of how her day is going. She will always assist any patient or parent that stops her in the hallway. She answers call lights regardless of whether it is her patient or not. Recently, a child was admitted to our unit whose parent was Spanish speaking only. Gia stopped what she was doing on her unit and came down to our unit to speak to this mom in her language. Gia was able to reduce the fears and anxiety the parent was experiencing as her sick child was being admitted to the hospital. Gia also was able to comfort the child by showing him his favorite cartoon on her cell phone. Gia reminds me of the fresh young nurse I used to be and motivates me to be a better nurse and co-worker daily.
