I was admitted to WellStar Paulding Hospital after going into diabetic ketoacidosis. Words don't sum up the pain I was experiencing, but it was the closest feeling to death I have ever experienced. WellStar did a phenomenal job ensuring that we got a room immediately in the Emergency Department. Tucker was the nurse that took care of me in the emergency room. I am very grateful for this. He was lighthearted, kind, attentive, and professional.
The thing that stood out the most was his friendliness and the fact that he genuinely cared. It was obvious that Tucker was truly interested in our conversations and cared about making me feel better. These are the types of attributes that you just can't teach, and they truly separate people like Tucker from others. We can all learn the technical skills needed to do a job, but there is something to be said about those who can also connect with others and make them feel cared for and listened to.
I have no doubt that Tucker will continue to positively impact many lives because of his caring personality and genuine interest in people. From a patient perspective, there really is no better feeling than knowing that your nurse is listening to you and truly cares about your wellbeing. Tucker provided this through the entire experience. Not only did he impress me, he impressed my entire family, including my sister who is also a nurse. Nurses with these attributes deserve to be recognized, because they will continue to positively impact so many lives, and often times nobody will hear about it. I am so grateful to have had Tucker as my nurse. He turned an awful experience into one of laughter and joy for me and my family, and we are forever grateful for this.
Thank You, Tucker!
