Not only did she care for our son, she cared for me and my husband too. She just seemed to know when we needed space or when we needed her.
Our beloved son, O, was admitted to the ITU. Hannah came on the evening shift that night and at this stage we did not know whether our son would be able to pull through. Hannah came into that room and I knew instantly that my boy was in good hands. She introduced herself to O and explained to him what she would be doing. She was so, so gentle with him. Not only did she care for our son, she cared for me and my husband too. She just seemed to know when we needed space or when we needed her. Hannah requested to come back the next night to care for O so that he had a familiar voice caring for him again. I can't even begin to say what that meant to me and my husband. It was so thoughtful and kind, it can't be easy when the patient is only 18 years old. Again Hannah spent the night doing everything to make him comfortable, by now we knew we were losing him. Unfortunately, we experienced an awful encounter with one of the doctors and Hannah handled it perfectly. Poor Hannah did not have to cope with this on top of doing her important job. She got the help needed to ensure that this Dr did not come near our room again, which I am so grateful for. I could not have chosen or wished for anyone better. Her compassion and empathy were perfect for the situations we were in. We will never forget Hannah and her caring ways for our son. That ward is so lucky to have her and any families that find themselves in our situation will be very well looked after.
