Sometimes facial expressions or presence mean more than any words spoken. That's all it took for Heather McCormick to gain the trust, respect, and admiration of her patients and families. We are so proud that Ms. McCormick chose Geisinger! She was nominated by a patient's family who expressed gratitude during a difficult time.
While clocked out for her shift, Heather sat down and took the time to reassure this patient's family that Geisinger was the best place for their loved one:
"Although she was unable to divulge too much information due to HIPPA, she reassured us with a smile that her evening was uneventful. Heather ended up spending an extended time talking with me and my father (not about anything that violates HIPAA/patient privacy) but about the unit, behavioral health, diagnosis, medications, and acute events. Heather managed up her team and gave my dad (and me) the comfort that we needed, in probably one of the worst days we've ever had. Heather spent over 45 minutes talking with us in the hall after she clocked out. Never once did she look at the elevator right behind her, the clock or her phone, even though I'm sure she was eagerly waiting to see her loved ones as well."
Thank you, Heather, for your extraordinary care!
