Mrs. Ross is a part of the reason why I am a competent Hemapheresis nurse today!
Mrs. Hettie Ross is a nurse who retired back in 2018 from Emory. She had been nursing for over 30 plus years. During a time when many left the profession of nursing, she came out of retirement to help our short-staffed unit by training new graduates and resuming the role of Charge Nurse when the position was required to be filled.
Leaving from neuro ICU and being new to hemapheresis, Mrs. Hettie Ross was my preceptor when I became a Hemapheresis Nurse, and she was my preceptor with such ease, class, professionalism, and grace. Mrs. Ross is a part of the reason why I am a competent Hemapheresis nurse today!
Today, Mrs. Ross shows her compassion and care to patients without hesitation, and she is truly the glue to our unit especially during this time of need in staffing. She continues to pour into new graduates, and instead of "eating the young", she nurtures the new nurses by providing and teaching wisdom and skills.
She recently loss her husband expectantly from a heart attack, but yet she continues to come to work with a smile on her face and ready to work! She is a great example of strength, hope, wisdom, love, compassion, and resilience.
