Nurses working in NICU have multiple assignments and with each one comes worried families. Good days and stressful days, Hope shows the same compassion and empathy to every family. Recently we had a mother and father who lost one of their twin baby girls suddenly, after a transfer to Main, due to complications. You can imagine having one child in one hospital then losing another one in a different hospital. This is a young loving couple who are new parents who should be enjoying this time with their babies and yet they are having to deal with the most unexpected situation their hearts could imagine.
Hope wanted to make sure that the family had as much information and keepsakes as possible for the little girl who passed away. These parents barely got a chance to hold their child so she wanted to make sure they had something to keep close to their hearts forever. She worked throughout the day working on a journal the family could take home. This journal included every detail that the parents experienced with the baby, every inch that she grew, every pound she gained, first time she was held, first time she got to taste her mother's milk, and so much more. She is so loving and what seems to not be much is going to make such a difference in that young family's lives forever knowing they have a piece of their little girl forever.
Hope deserves to be a DAISY so other people can see how compassionate she is and maybe it will remind a lot of people hopefully why they became a nurse or got into the healthcare field…..to take care of people in all ways…showing love, compassion, empathy and overall just taking time out to show you truly care about them.
