My mom was admitted into ICU due to RSV and COPD. From the time we left the ED all of the ICU nurses have been amazing. Billie Jo took care of my mom for the first couple of days, and she loved on her and made her feel cared for. 4 days later, Mom decided that she was not going to fight the inevitable with the RSV/COPD and continued use of the biPAP and Vapotherm machines. Ms. Terri (Therese) came in with Dr. Jenkins and listened to Mom’s wishes. They have all been very supportive of Mom as well as our family. Mom asked Annette if she could get her hair washed and not only did she oblige, but she put the items used to wash her whole body in the warmer and waited to give her the bath with warm clothes. They have really made this transition easier. Casey, Ms. Terri, and Dr. Jenkins have really taken our privacy, well-being, and overall feelings into consideration as we navigate through this difficult journey. When mom was deemed ineligible for GIP, they fought for Mom to give her a comfortable placement so as not to have to transport her no less than 3 times to get her settled. I am beyond thankful and appreciative of the care that they have shown, and the questions they asked (that didn’t even cross my mind) to ensure a peaceful event for Mom and the family!
