The DAISY Team Award honors the collaboration between two or more care team members, led by a nurse. Together, the team was able to meet patient and family needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of nursing. This team does this every day, every, patient, every time.
The Interventional Radiology department at Summerlin has gone above and beyond in every aspect. They work collaboratively with ALL departments in the hospital. They ALWAYS put patients first. They are continually looking for ways to grow: from forming their own pre/post area; to doing new procedures; advocating for their own schedulers; outreach to med/surg to help with education; starting a rotation for radiology students to come learn about another opportunity for their career; and growing their team to be a place where doctors prefer to come to.
The IR staff receives many DAISY nominations, and the recurring theme is:
Caring, compassionate, helpful, kind, professional, and knowledgeable. One patient wrote: "I come every 3 months for neph tube exchange-it is nice to see a familiar face and make the procedure as easy and painless as possible." Another patient wrote: "Sometimes being in a hospital is unsettling and fearful-I am grateful that my nurse made me feel comfortable and cared for."
This group is more than just a bunch of coworkers -they are a family and they live the mission of Patients and Family first. It’s not just one thing, but a million little things that make this team so deserving of this award
