Debbie stopped in my room this morning to see how everything was going and we had so much to tell her. Let me start with my husband has diverticulitis. He was first treated by Orange Regional back in March for a severe flare up. He was here for maybe 7 days, he was not in good shape. After a very stressful night, we were transferred to 2 South to room 2403 where we were greeted by Rosa. What an amazing nurse. She knows her stuff, got us quickly settled and made us feel all was going to be ok. From there, we had Barbara, Jean, Carla among several other nurses. We had a wonderful N/A named Jackie. I can't tell you how wonderful each nurse was on this floor/wing.

Fast forward to September... We are in for surgery. My husband had a hernia, intestinal tear, and a bad case of diverticulitis. He had surgery on 9/16. Again after a long day, we were wheeled up to 2 South, room 2403 AGAIN where we were greeted by NURSE Jackie (our old N/A). We saw all the nurses from our last visit. We were greeted with great big smiles and hugs in some cases. I think all the nurses on this floor are AMAZING. But I have to highlight one in particular, Jackie Stimpson. We arrived on the 16th at 5:30am. We arrived on 2 South around 2 pm. It was a very long day. The doors open to the room and like I said, there was this smiling, familiar face ready to greet us. Jackie was our nurse the first night after surgery. I have to tell you she did everything with a smile, we wanted or waited for nothing. She quickly got us settled and things calm. There was not one thing she wasn't willing to do for us. We need pain meds, she got them. We needed bandages changed, she changed them. She was always a step ahead. Not only did she smile the entire time, she was pleasant, compassionate, and just a beautiful person. She made being in the hospital more tolerable. She was our nurse throughout the night.

Here is the reason for my note: When it was time for the next shift to take over, Jackie stayed an additional 3 hours as she had calls into doctors and was not willing to leave her patients without answers. Granted these were follow up that she could have given the new nurse that was more than capable but she felt a sense of obligation to get answers and know her patients were ok before she went home for the day. She saw how much pain my husband was in and didn't want him to suffer. She stayed on top of the doctor to get the appropriate pain meds prescribed. She checked in with us as she made progress and did everything to make my husband comfortable.

I have been a corporate professional for over 20 years and one thing I know is customer service. Technically we are her customers. She is amazing. If I had to rate her as a nurse on a scale from 1 to 10, she would get a 20 from me. She is truly an asset to your hospital. ALL the nurses on this wing are amazing. You have a wonderful team of nurses on this floor. I hope this note does not take away from anyone. I simply wanted to highlight Jackie as she just stood out from the rest.
