I had to have emergency surgery that landed me here for 2 weeks during which I spent my 35th birthday. My nurse, Jackie, went above and beyond when it came to my care. She would use every resource and at times think outside the box to assist with my care as I was unable to walk after surgery. But in addition to this lady providing the most extreme care I have ever received, the early morning of my birthday (she worked nights), she hung birthday signs and pictures she and other nurses in the unit made to bring some cheer to what was not the best of birthdays. It truly turned a horrible birthday into one I will never forget as she and her team made my day special. Her care went above and beyond what was expected. During my 2 weeks here I had 3 surgeries and she took care of me beyond the levels of expectations and requirements. We are truly lucky to have Jackie as a part of the Carilion team.
