I am the assistant nurse manager of the Newborn ICU at Progress West Hospital. Our unit opened in July of 2017. We grew quickly and found ourselves needing some extra nursing help. We contacted the leadership team at Missouri Baptist's NICU, and they were gracious enough to let us "borrow" some of their staff when their census allowed. Jamie was one of the first volunteers to come help us.
From day one, Jamie made an incredible impression on me and my staff. Jamie shared her extensive knowledge of caring for sick and pre-term infants with my staff, helping build their confidence in caring for this fragile population. She not only offered her bedside assistance but made suggestions to me on products, procedures, and process changes that could help us provide the best care to our babies.
I had the personal experience of Jamie being with me to get through an unexpected crash c-section of a pre-term infant. She not only ran to the OR when I asked her to come but assisted as a vital part of the team during the resuscitation. Jamie stayed with us for all of the procedures that we had to perform to stabilize the baby for transport for a higher level of care. I just want to honor and thank Jamie for all that she has done for us in the past year and a half.
