Our 3 year old son had outpatient surgery at the Wexford surgery center on a Friday morning. Everything went well, but after we got back home, we had a concern about a specific symptom and whether or not it was a normal side effect. I called back to the surgery center and talked to a recovery nurse, Jean Schmiedel. She was extremely helpful and reassuring, and answered my concern and I thought that was it. About 30 minutes later, Jean called me back to tell me that she had spoken to the doctor and asked her specifically about our question and gave me the doctor's advice as well.

On Monday, I received the normal follow-up call from a nurse in Urology. However, about 2 hours later, Jean called me back again to see how my son was doing. She said that she had asked the nurse that had spoken to me earlier if I had mentioned how he was doing in that specific area and the nurse said I hadn't, so she wanted to follow up. She also informed me that she had also spoken to an anesthesiologist to verify that it was indeed normal but she had just wanted to check on us.

The entire time, Jean was upbeat, caring, and extremely personable. All of our son's care while at Children's was fantastic, however Jean went above and beyond and gave us a fantastic impression of CHP! Thanks to your staff, and specifically, Jean.
