Jen is the night supervisor of the OB department and has stepped up as interim director. Jen has seamlessly transitioned very well into this position. She has shown excellence at stepping up into this role as director but also assist on the floor when needed. She helped secure some staff to ensure we had plenty of help. We have had some pretty busy months over her time as interim director. Jen is the first person to jump right in to help when asked. Jen has shown a true passion for her work through the hard work she has displayed over the last 6 months as interim director. She has done multiple behind the scenes items for our unit to improve the quality of the unit. She has been passionate about never leaving anyone behind. She wants to make sure we are staffed as appropriately as possible to ensure patient safety and satisfaction by helping out when needed. Everyone on the OB unit trusts that Jen is always there when we need advice, assistance and need to be heard. Jen has what is best for the patient, staff, and unit in mind continuously. Through her hard work and dedication to the OB unit and her patients, I believe Jen exemplifies the qualities of a DAISY Nurse.

I do not work with Jen on the floor but work with her on various committees and projects at CHI Health Mercy. Jen always has the patients and her staff when making decisions. During this time as interim director she not only performed the job duties as director but also for patient and staff safety would go onto the floor and take patients and then complete what director tasks she needed to do. During this time, she was also the co-chair of Professional Practice Council (PPC) and will be chair this upcoming year. Jen is also working full-time and in school to obtain her MSN and MBA. She supports her staff to further their education and obtain certification by working with them on their work schedule so both can be accomplished.
