A smile on her face is consistent with Jennifer Escudero, RN and goes hand in hand with the excellent care she provides for patients and visitors. Patients and families have shared with me that Jennifer is compassionate and very attentive. She listens and comforts. Many patients and families in ICU have verbally commended Jennifer, stating that she is always smiling and her demeanor is peaceful and caring. One young gentleman (patient) was adamant by asking for pain medication repeatedly. Jennifer attended to the patient, listened, explained the reasons and with a gentle voice, empowered the patient. The following day, this same patient stated, "my nurse (referring to Jennifer) really cares about me as a human being, she did not judge me".
I witnessed a daughter of a patient in ICU who complimented Jennifer on how well she cared for the patient. How exceptional she is as a nurse and as a compassionate person. Observing Jennifer and working with her at times in ICU, especially with families, I can truly say, Jennifer is a nurse whom I would like for my care if I ever needed. Her passion for nursing ministry is also very reflected in Mercy's Values of reverence: "honoring the sacredness and dignity of every person". Jennifer also demonstrates a "commitment to those who are poor", reaching out with care, spirit of service, and comforts those in need. Also "integrity", Jennifer is very present and attentive to people, to her patients, families, and colleagues.
