When it came time to push, I don’t remember Jen ever leaving. I pushed for 3 hours, and Jen’s calming presence never wavered.
Jen was a superb nurse recently when we had our baby boy. She was our night shift nurse and had such a calm, friendly demeanor. When my husband went home to walk our dog, my contractions quickly intensified. During this time, Jen was such a comfort. She thoroughly listened to my wishes and when I wanted an epidural, she quickly took the necessary steps to make that happen. By this time, my husband was back, and I was in intense pain.
Jen coached me through the epidural and included my husband. Following epidural placement, my labor progressed with far less pain. She talked with us for a while, as I asked questions. Jen was insightful, knowledgeable, and told us captivating stories from her own birth experiences. When it came time to push, I don’t remember Jen ever leaving. I pushed for 3 hours, and Jen’s calming presence never wavered. When the baby’s heart rate started to drop and the situation got concerning, Jen was in tune with my needs, comforting me, all while communicating with the providers. For such a scary, high-stress situation, I truly can’t imagine a better nurse for me.
When we had to have an emergency c-section at shift change, Jen was there. Following the birth, my husband asked Jen if she was supposed to be off work and she said with a smile, “Oh, I wasn’t going to leave.” She was there for us through and through. Jen was such an integral, positive person in the story of our son’s birth. We thank her for her kindness, support, and sensitivity that night and morning.
