Jennifer McCarty, RN on Macomb Center’s 5C Oncology Unit, was honored with a DAISY Award. Jen was nominated by one of her patients, who shared,
“Jennifer just really made herself available to me when I needed someone the most. She did not just brush me off when I began to cry because I felt like I could not take being hospitalized any longer. She allowed me to tell her everything that has been balled up inside of me. I never tell complete strangers my business but I saw something inside of her that made me feel safe and comfortable with talking to her. Patients should always feel some type of comfort with the person handling their care. She truly deserves this award because, in my eyes, she went that extra mile to make sure I felt better. Her spirit towards me really has made me realize that this is just a bump in the road and eventually the ride will get smoother the further I go. She’s a very inspiring woman and she deserves the DAISY Award. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to nominate her. She really has changed the way I look at the negative in my life.”
