Compliment from patient and family
The day that our family encountered an unexpected medical crisis in which one of our family member suffered from AHS or Acute Hemorrhagic Stroke which lead to the inability to performance of the activities of daily living. This situation bonded us together tightly us a family and motivated us to surpass this trial together.
Although our family member is used to be a person full of encouragement and undefeated with anything that has happened, we became despondent many times, tired and upset towards our family member as a patient due to non-cooperation with us in taking medications, eating meals and even compliance to rehabilitation program. Until the day we met a nurse who approached us with her smile and greetings and she came to hold patient's hand and calling patient's by name. She asked about current condition and acted like the patient is just other normal patient, not a paralyzed patient. The kindness of the nurse reminded us to not forget the human values of the paralyzed patient. Moreover, she taught us about the prognosis of the disease, symptoms, and possible changes on patient's physical and mental state. She also made us learn how to manage patient with safety and how to stay with patient who has chronic disease.
Now, we have one family member who has inability to communicate and needs assistance in some situation, a patient with accompanying responsibility. In contrary to that, we instead think that our family has to take care of each other more than before and not thinking that we have a patient but a family member. Everything happened because of nurse Jirapan's help and guidance. We appreciate her sincere help for us to learn how to take care of our family member.
