I nominate Jesse Stroud for the DAISY Award. When rounding on his patients, they always mention him as a nurse that made a difference. They feel he always listens and involves them in the plan of care. They feel that he is compassionate. I have heard he facilitates communication with doctors. His patients state they know that they have an advocate in Jesse.
As a coworker, I find Jesse is always calm. He seeks advice when needed. He has a smile and mannerisms that let you know you have a back-up. He has a way of making others feel at ease. When things get chaotic, he is the calm in a storm. He has a gentle, peaceful way to put others at ease. I recently received a compliment from a nurse in another department about how Jesse was so good with a confused patient. He was able to reduce the patient’s agitation with calm, reassuring words.
Jesse’s compassion, communication skills and involvement with his patients exemplifies how he leads by example and is being recognized as an extraordinary nurse.

Jesse took care of our mother a few weeks ago and she is still raving about how great his care was. While our mother was here she was in a lot of pain. Jesse took extra steps to make sure she was comfortable and never missed her pain medicine. He assisted with restricting visitors and scheduling care so she could get her rest. She had memory and speech deficits. Jesse took extra time to review and repeat things and helped her write things down so she would not feel so confused. She felt very comfortable with Jesse as her nurse when family couldn’t be there. Jesse stepped in to help our family when we had a conflict with a physician. He made sure Mom wasn’t scared or pressured into making a decision and that our family was fully educated every step of the way.

Jesse is the greatest nurse I have ever had take care of me. Every little detail was met and followed through. He is patient, kind and honest. If he didn’t know, he’d say so and find out. He never acted annoyed or rushed. He kept his word and followed through on all his promises. Give yourself a big pat on the back and keep up the good work! Love that Jesse!
