Jessica was the change that was needed. She transformed the unit and made my work experience and the Veteran's care experience much better.
I worked at WCTB for a few years when Jessica started as a Nurse Manager. The unit was way understaffed, call-offs were very high, and mandatory overtime was routine. Staff morale was very low, and many were burned out. Veterans noticed the constant flow of new faces in and out to cover the unit and care could have been better. Jessica was the change that was needed. She transformed the unit and made my work experience and the Veteran's care experience much better.
Integrity- Jessica always displayed integrity in all of her work. She acted with high principles, moral and work ethics, addressed Veterans and staff needs.
Commitment- She hired new employees to help with work overload and she was always on the floor staying long after her time to finish her jobs and help staff and Veterans. Overtime and call-off decreased drastically. She built up morale and trust in the unit. She endorsed a culture of staff responsibility and organizational duty. Everyone was impressed with the culture that she created.
Advocacy- Jessica is veteran-centric; considerate of Veterans' needs and ensures that all needs are met. Mr. E was not happy with a provider decision, so Jessica spoke with the Chief of Nursing on his behalf. The veteran was scheduled for a consult and ended up having a procedure done that improved his baseline pain level dramatically. He was very satisfied with the care and concern she had for him.
Respect- She treats all those who served and with whom she works with dignity and respect. She always listens to Veterans' families and resolves any issues that they have.
Excellent- Jessica always strives for the highest quality work and always improves patient care. She is an amazing leader who is accountable and willing to correct any mistake. Inspection results are great because staff will work hard for a good leader! Jessica is the best Manager I have had at VA. Thank you!
